Recently, SCU successfully provided efficient lithium-ion battery systems for 30 subway stations in South Korea, helping subway stations to further improve the reliability and safety of power supply. A total of 60 sets of 384V lithium-ion batteries were deployed in this project to provide long-lasting backup power support for the existing 10~100kVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system in the subway station.
Background
As the core facility of public transportation, the safe operation of South Korea’s subways is crucial to ensuring the travel of millions of daily passengers. In order to cope with unexpected situations such as sudden power outages and ensure the continuous operation of lighting, emergency equipment and safety systems within the site, a reliable backup power system is an indispensable part of the subway site. The lithium-ion battery system provided by SCU this time is designed to meet the high standard requirements of subway stations. It can provide stable output during power outages and continue to ensure the operation of the station.
Solution
In this project, SCU equipped the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system of each subway station with 2-3 sets of SCU 384V lithium-ion battery units, so that the UPS system at each station can provide continuous power supply for 3 hours in an emergency. This design has significant advantages in ensuring the redundancy and stability of the system. It can not only support the normal operation of all key equipment in the station but also ensure seamless switching to the backup power supply when the main power is unstable.
Advantages
- Reliable power support: SCU’s lithium-ion battery system greatly improves the power guarantee capability of subway stations in sudden power outages, ensuring the safety of equipment and passengers.
- Extended backup power duration: Each set of batteries can provide up to 3 hours of power support to ensure basic operation of the site in the event of a long power outage.
- Modular design: The 384V lithium-ion battery system has a compact design, which not only meets the space requirements of the subway station but also provides convenience for later expansion or system updates.
Outlook
This project not only demonstrates SCU’s technical strength in power system integration but also proves SCU’s professional capabilities in responding to high-demand public facilities. SCU will continue to assist the construction of various infrastructures around the world, provide customers with safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly energy solutions, and promote the development of global public transportation in a more efficient and green direction.
