What is UN3536?

UN3536 refers to a dangerous goods number in the “UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods”, which is specifically used to identify lithium battery packs. This number is used to manage and regulate the safety requirements of lithium battery packs during transportation, aiming to ensure the safety and reliability of energy storage systems during transportation, storage and use.

UN3536 specifically refers to large lithium-ion battery packs for energy storage systems. Such battery packs are usually used for grid energy storage, backup power supplies, large renewable energy systems, etc. The purpose of lithium battery packs is to provide external power to cargo transport unit components. Lithium battery packs must be firmly placed on the internal structure of the transport component, such as lithium battery racks or lithium battery cabinets, to prevent dangers caused by short circuits, collisions, friction, and shaking of lithium batteries.
